Portability Specialist

RHA is excited to welcome Alicia Jackson to the team as our new Portability Specialist. Alicia brings a strong background in housing authority work, with over a decade of experience helping families navigate the complexities of portability.

Her journey began in New Jersey at the East Orange Housing Authority, where she started as a volunteer intern. From answering phones to supporting public housing applications and waitlists, Alicia’s dedication quickly led to a permanent position—and eventually a promotion to portability specialist. Most recently, she worked at Wake County Housing Authority for three years, where she served in the same role after being promoted from a dual receptionist position covering both programs.

Alicia learned about the opportunity at RHA through Indeed while searching for a new challenge. With friends already working here and an interest in exploring the property management side of housing, she knew RHA would be a great fit.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Alicia grew up in and around the Newark area before relocating to North Carolina in 2020. While she’s enjoying her new surroundings, she admits she misses the food variety from back home—especially the pizza!

Outside of work, Alicia loves cooking and spending time watching her favorite shows. She’s also a proud mom to two boys, ages 12 and 16, who keep her on her toes. And when it comes to seasons, Alicia is definitely a summer person—she loves the sunshine, warmth, and all the energy that summer brings.
